I was already a Kansas City Chiefs fan since the early 1970s. This coincided with the start of their decline into one of the NFL’s most infamous teams. So I wasn’t one of those bandwagon people who hopped on because of the pairing of Swift/Kelce. The moment was a global pop culture phenomenon for sure. Yes, merchandise and viewership skyrocketed.

I’m not a fan of Taylor Swift; I’m sure she’s excellent at what she does with her legions of followers, Swifties they are called. with a female viewership enjoying a 9% bump. Now get this: the Travis Kelce jersey had a major jump in sales of over 400%, with an over $300 million increase in value to the Chiefs as well as the NFL as a whole.
What if Taylor Swift just likes football players, and she and Kelce split, and she moves on to another player on a different team?The media frenzy reached its apex at the time of Super Bowl LVIII. I’m glad my Chiefs won that Super Bowl, of course, regardless of any Taylor Swift involvement. The Kansas City Chiefs were long overdue to have a run of outstanding success.

Since they became a couple, I didn’t become a Swifie; I’m in my early 60s; it’s just not my music.

The Kansas City Chiefs amazing run could come to an end with the retirement of key players down the road; however, I’m glad in my lifetime they finally became major winners in the National Football League. On top of that, a great pop icon was a major part of this success. Yes, Taylor Swift helped boost the viewership of football. Now we need that same boost for the struggling Major League Baseball.
